This episode differs from the previous episodes in that it focuses on several magical girls instead of one or two. The magical girls continue to fight amongst each other, however. Amidst the backstories and the revealed identities, the new mahou shoujo is also introduced. Finally, it seems like one particular magical girl is finally making her move.
(SPOILERS IN THIS SECOND HALF OF THIS REVIEW)
While I did say this episode featured several magical girls, the ones who received the most focus were Sister Nana, who’s really against the in-fighting, and Weiss Winterprison. This makes sense as they’re one of the four partnerships, but they haven’t received any real special attention before this episode.
The other partnership that’s yet to really receive focus, Calamity Mary and Magicaloid 44, is just obsessed with money, which makes characterization for them not nearly as needed. Still, Magicaloid 44 dominates a decent amount of the episode since we get to see her money-grubbing ways.
Cranberry finally shows her true colors as someone who only wants to fight strong opponents. She also has a special role in this elimination game, apparently, which might make her excluded from the weekly rankings as a result? Either way, she picks several fights this episode.
The new magical girl, Hardgore Alice, is formally introduced this episode, too. What a name. We still don’t know if she is a fan of or a foe for Snow White.
I’m guessing the next episode is going to continue showing magical girls fighting other magical girls as this episode ends with Cranberry about to throw down with another magical girl. Maybe Hardgore Alice will receive more attention, too. Episode 6’s title, “Get the Super-Rare Items!” is interesting, too. Now who shows up with an interesting item in the OP?

Anyways, see you next week! The rest of the post will feature pictures from the episode. Avoid if you’re not into spoilers.

That scene about Kano reading about Snow white was a nice touch, anime original scene btw.
That small scene implied many things about Ripple and snow white including a recent break down.
The adaption is still doing great just a little less bloodier.
Anyway the major things in this episode is the Admins (rulers mention those in episode 3), the power behind Fav. This implied that as far as the girls knew Fav was the spokesperson not the decision maker.
Another things was Fav and Cranberry relationship. Now it was cleared that the ‘game’ was meant to be battle royale from the beginning, everything will make sense including why some of those ‘girls’ are ‘chosen’. One of those is the episode 3 reveal which was obviously staged. Group reveal on the internet, offering a life line aka the steal options to the desperate right after the mess, calculated moves to make them fight. No way out too since quitting mean dying instantly.

It was an anime original scene? They did good adding it.
The original novel is even bloodier, huh? Sounds like a fun read.
Oh, yeah, the Admins seem to be a big deal. Fav is just their minion at this rate.
I wanted to talk about that, too. Cranberry just happened to have a conversation that’s easily accessible by everyone in the chat. As you said, it must have been staged. I didn’t really put two and two together and realize the timing for the steal option was intentional, however. Hm.
There was a reason why certain girls were chosen to be magical girls, then? The plot thickens!
Thanks for dropping by. Your knowledge of the original source material is really helpful.

Can’t go wrong with favorite seiyuu & robots who shortchange you! c:
I thinkkk my favorite has to be La Pucelle. I tend to crush on the chivalrous girls *o* (serious thing for Saber from Fate/Stay before). Or those sweet & shy girls like Nemurin. That’s what I would have said before this ep, but dat robot man dat robot and her conniving ways . I also like Ripple’s design a lot and want her to talk more :

Oops, well, looks like the rest of my comment didn’t come up and I also didn’t reply correctly :P. But anyway, yea, it’s hard to pick a favorite and this show is definitely a bloomer. Hope more people pick it up.

It’s a fantastic combo! c:
Knightly, chivalrous girls are nice, too! Same with Nemurin, Magicaloid… We’re definitely spoiled for choices when it comes to favorites haha.
Mmm. I hope people give the series another shot, too. I understand why they bailed since so many show that start weak get worse and worse, but that isn’t the case here!

I liked that robot so much for some reason. What a money grubber. And hat tip to Sister Nana and Winterprison/Snow White and La Pucelle ;D
Cranberry is so pretty I can’t even
This is my favorite ep so far.

I like her precisely because she’s a money-grubber. The fact that she’s voiced by my favorite seiyuu probably helps, haha.
The ships are sailing! c:
You’re so right about Cranberry. I wonder what her true form looks like.
Even though we’ve been gushing about Swim Swim and Cranberry, I think I still like Ripple the most. Still, it’s tough picking a favorite.
It’s a toss-up for me, but I like the direction of the show thus far. Each episode keeps getting better. It’s too bad it’s happening after some people dropped the show, however.
