6 Month Blog Anniversary and 60+ Followers!

Well, I should have posted this on November 22nd, 2016 since I consider May 22nd, 2016 to be the starting point of The Lily Garden. It’s the post date of my A Little Lily Princess review. Alas, I’ve been stuck in Shadowverse hell these last few days, haha.

But wow, these six months have passed by very quickly! And it’s all thanks to you guys! After all, all of my posts would essentially just be silly public diary entries if you all weren’t reading them. So thank you all!

As for statistics… I’m at 7300+ views, 3,259 visitors, 683 likes, and 391 comments over six months. I know a lot of it are repeats, but I’m still happy. And I reached 60 followers earlier this week! Woo! It might not seem like much, but it means a lot to me!

For some reason, my most viewed post is my Love Live! Sunshine!! Episode 10 Review at 240 views. It’s probably the GIFs, which I had actually managed to not mess up for once. My second highest post would be the aforementioned A Little Lily Princess review at 153. I really need to get back to playing more visual novels, but anime (and now Shadowverse) has really got me pressed for time…

Anyways, I also wanted to give some shout-outs to some of my blogger friends. They’re all awesome and you should check out their blogs!

vlcsnap-2016-11-24-21h03m00s651.png

Arria Cross – she was my first follower and gave me very helpful advice when I was starting out (back when I overused purple font in my blog posts, haha). A prominent community leader in the anime blogging world, Arria runs monthly Otaku Blog Carnivals where other anime bloggers can learn about other like-minded bloggers! Did I already mention that she’s really kind? Just making sure. Her posts are always creative, engaging, and hilarious.

Karandi – her wonderfully dry wit is as clear as day when you read her 100 word reviews and makes for good, thought-provoking reading. Her blog covers an exhaustively large variety of anime shows of many different genres, such as romance, horror, sports, and much more. A lover of chocolate and snacks in general, Karandi also has two three weekly features: Tuesday’s Top 5, which consists of fun lists; Friday’s Feature, where she focuses on a topic; and In Case You Missed it, where she compiles a list of blog posts that had caught her eye during the past week. I do admire her curt style of blogging.

Crystal – her blog primarily covers K-pop album and video game reviews. You can clearly tell she’s passionate about both topics as seen in her enthusiastic reviews. To be honest, I was so happy when I saw she started a blog after she had been following The Lily Garden for a few weeks or so, haha.

YahariBento – he primarily posts really analytical articles regarding anime, manga, and light novels. By now I’m sure he’s an expert at Oregairu, which happens to be one of his favorite series. Lately he’s been swarmed by award nominations, which really lets us get to know him!

KimmieKawaii – she has written up a helpful and funny series of guides for newcomers to the anime world. Heck, anyone can (and will) enjoy her guides! I know I did! She also shares some anime news here and there.

sophiethestark – she primarily writes lovely book reviews. Somehow each review has me learning enough about the book which results in me feeling interested, yet I don’t feel like I’ve read spoilers. How does she do it? If you’re into literature, you should follow her!

D Talks Anime – I’m thankful for how often D drops by my blog and comments on my series reviews (you better not be procrasinating and avoiding college stuff when you do so, though). Reading D’s detailed posts, due to D’s ability to discern troubling messages and trends in shows, really makes one ponder (in a good way). Not that D is overly critical in the reviews; D has no trouble pointing out what worked for a show and what didn’t. It’s no wonder D’s posts are a pleasure to read.

weekendotaku – his reviews are incredibly thorough and detailed. If you want to see a series get broken down piece by piece and analyzed, you better follow this man and hope he gets to it since he does not disappoint. The little rating he has on the bottom of each review always makes me laugh,  too. 3.5 Umarus!

Alane – we get into long, silly conversations while discussing anime episodes and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Her posts are creative, her passion for making fuse bead Bubble Bobble is impressive, and her sense of humor is on-point. Alane has really been analyzing Nanbaka, Yuri!!! On Ice, and Magical Girl Raising Project to an amazing degree. Heck, I don’t even watch the first two shows yet I still tune into her episode reviews. They’re that good, folks!

Nanaya – I have doubts you’ll even see this, but I am so very thankful you drop by my Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku episode review posts. Your knowledge of the original source material, coupled with your enthusiasm for the franchise, has made watching this series one hell of an experience.

pokeninja90 – despite getting a bit overwhelmed by work, she still manages to remain active and has a nice weekly summary post covering all her posts as well as important visual novel announcements! She primarily posts about otome games, kickstarters for visual novels that need fundraising, and pokemon! Her sense of humor is great and her posts are always fun to read!

Kyra – Kyra has definitely caused me to have an appreciation for Japanese names. Now I know writers (and viewers and readers) can learn so much about a character from just the name! I always am left feeling amused (and smarter) after reading her weekly posts!

Leafさんの夢が。。。– busy medical student who manages a blog and dates dashing princes in her spare time. If you want to pick up Japanese, well, you’re in luck since she has a great  instructional series. She also blogs about otome games!

prattle – prattle’s posts touches upon interesting topics many anime viewers don’t really sit down and consider. prattle’s Seasonal Survival guide posts in particular have me hooked. prattle’s dry wit and willingness to criticize shows make me smile whenever I read prattle’s reviews. Also, prattle is moe.

maengune – a fellow yuri comrade, yaaay! She’s relatively new to blogging, but her blog format already looks tons better than mine, haha. She even has a little preview bar on the bottom of her blog that lets her readers know what she plans on talking about! Her reviews are detailed and have an unique tone, which makes them great to read. Give her blog a look through and follow her, yousoro! That goes double for Love Live! fans!

weeabootaku – I found his blog through Arria Cross’ Otaku Blog Carnival and I’m so glad I did! His reviews are both immaculate and entertaining. I find myself feeling like I’m talking to an old friend when I read through them.

Thank you all for your support. Cheers!

  4. Congratulations on 60+ followers and happy anniversary!! ^_^
It’s such a nice feeling, isn’t it, to be writing for so many people and making a difference somehow? I’m sure you’ll get a lot more if you keep up the great work. But the important thing is to keep doing what you love and inspiring others to do the same! I hope you’re enjoying your journey and making it count every day 🙂
Thank you so much for the shout out, too! My goal is to keep my content interesting but still suitable for everyone… So based on your opinion, I think I’ve achieved that. Which makes me very happy 🙂
Will want to read more from you soon!

    1. Thank you!! Making a small difference with writing and all does feel nice, haha.

  5. Happy Anniversary! Those are some great stats. 6 months and 60 followers to show for it are impressive af.

Thanks for the shout out. If I were the blushing type, I’d be red as a tomato now. As it is, I’m pretty damn happy. (And since I noticed your conspicuous lack of pronouns for me, it’s gender neutral they/them.)

Also, rest assured that I’m not procrastinating – that ended bad for Hamlet and I’m trying not to emulate him). Instead, I’m drowning in linguistics hell. Happy? 😛

    1. Thank you!!
Making you blush like a tomato will have been nice, but a happy D is great, too!
(Ahh, thanks. I did remember our earlier conversation in regards to gender so I just played it safe. Kind of came out a little choppy, though).
Oh, you won’t find an Ophelia to talk about country matters with? 😉 just kiddinggg
Linguistics hell, huh? It sounds painful, but it also sounds interesting to a common layman such as myself. I can’t say I’m happy at your apparent suffering, but I hope it’s been getting more manageable. The holidays are almost upon us, after all!

      Thanks for dropping by!

      1. (It’s fine, I know it can get confusing.)

Nope, no Ophelia. Finding a girlfriend is pretty pointless if you drive her to suicide…

It’s interesting but not that fun to study. You know how English has about zero correlation between spelling and pronunciation? Now imagine studying why each word sounds the way it does. Gah. Holidays really can’t come fast enough.

        1. (Mmm thanks)
That’s true. Madness moe ain’t moe for me, either!
It sounds both laborious and interesting. The English language is like some ravenous amoeba, I’ve always thought. Just absorbing all these words from different languages, which leads to w e i r d t h i n g s. Hang in there! It’s just around the corner!

          1. Ravenous amoeba! That’s an interesting (and accurate) way to describe it. Thanks, I’ll try to survive with what’s left of my sanity intact.

  6. YEEE CONGRATULATIONS!

If Shadowverse is eating your time, mine’s Heroes of the Storm. Now I can’t play anything else because MOBA calls for me to git gud. OTL

    1. ARIGATOYOUSORO!
Okay, that probably won’t catch on, haha.
I know that feeling. MOBA games are just so enticing, ughhh. But they aren’t satisfied with just a little of your time. They want it all! Don’t lose too much track of time as you git gud OTL

I hope Nanaya sees this! She is a sage of Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku. *tries to nod sagely in imitation*

I hope so, but I won’t pester her about it. Sadly I heard mgrp got licensed by Yen Press. ;__; she really is the sage.
