Sin: Nanatsu no Taizai Episode 1 Review – “The Proud Fallen Angel”

So here we are with the Queen’s Blade runback. There is no link between the two series besides the fact that they both share lots of voluptuous women, lots of censoring, and lots of battles!

(Spoilers in this review

Lucifer is cast out of heaven due to her excessive pride. She has a chance encounter with a normal human, Maria, inside a church. She expresses shock that Maria can see her. Before she continues falling further and further down, Lucifer proclaims that she will give Maria an angel’s life.

Once she lands in the ninth layer of hell, Cocytus (where everything is frozen over), Lucifer is found by Leviathan, a minor Demon Lord. Levi ends up becoming infatuated with Lucifer and starts calling her “Onee-sama.” vlcsnap-2017-04-16-20h20m52s271vlcsnap-2017-04-16-20h24m46s389

Levi takes Lucifer to the place where the seven ruling members of Hell, the Seven Mortal Sins, gather. She ends up briefly scuffling with Satan, the demon of Wrath, before the viewers are introduced to the other ruling Demon Lords.vlcsnap-2017-04-16-20h27m49s421vlcsnap-2017-04-16-20h33m15s562vlcsnap-2017-04-16-20h38m04s963vlcsnap-2017-04-16-20h38m17s565vlcsnap-2017-04-16-20h38m46s256vlcsnap-2017-04-16-20h39m15s941vlcsnap-2017-04-16-20h45m00s144The scene jumps back to the human world where Maria is talking with her friend, Mina. Maria ends up dismissing the encounter with Lucifer as a mere dream. It seems like Mina appreciates the thickness of Maria’s hips! Are they really just friends? Prbobably yeah.vlcsnap-2017-04-16-20h55m58s604vlcsnap-2017-04-16-20h58m37s712vlcsnap-2017-04-16-20h59m43s086

Aaaand then it’s back to Hell. After she’s humiliated (read: stripped) by the fallen angel, Belial, the demon of Vanity, ends up calling for the other demons to team up against Lucifer. And so the dirty demons do jump in and Lucifer ends having her angelic wings cut off by Belial.vlcsnap-2017-04-16-21h05m55s244vlcsnap-2017-04-16-21h09m04s191vlcsnap-2017-04-16-21h16m27s082Unfortunately for Belial, Lucifer becomes a full-fledged demon and turns into Lucifer, the angel of Pride (which is a notch higher than Vanity, no?). She then flees to Earth.

Lucifer then runs into Maria again and say she isn’t an angel but a demon. Then she pierces Maria’s chest with her spear thing.vlcsnap-2017-04-16-21h20m21s627vlcsnap-2017-04-16-21h23m11s120

This will probably be the last time I mention this series

I don’t have a problem with smut. But I just don’t think it’s worth blogging about most of the time. And Sin: Nanatsu no Taizai is not exempt from this general rule of mine.

At one point, I wanted to cover all anime/manga/visual novels which fall under the wide umbrella known as the yuri genre. However, I now do not think that is feasible and I will have to avoid pointless shows like this in order to cover more worthwhile material.

I mean, the show could probably go places if I were patient enough. It’s nice that one of our protagonists is already incredibly strong (and ruthless). Maybe Lucifer will rise up to become the leader of the Seven Mortal Sins and she’ll lead a rebellion against Heaven. Maybe Levi will become a Major Demon Lord, too. What will happen to Maria, who can see Angels and Demons and is now currently a shish kebab?

I can think of these types of things that could happen, but I just can’t really care enough to see what actually does happens since the show is obviously pandering to a specific audience base that doesn’t include me.

tl;dr – this one episode review is all you’re going to get from me

  1. I don’t even think this show does a good job at showing “hot/sexy” scenes. Also it has lots of exposition that no one really cares about, so it’s just… boring tbh. Not that I like this kinda shows because I don’t, but it doesn’t even deliver what its audience expects in the first place.

  2. I honestly think that if people can get past the fan service, this might make for an interesting series. The premise sounds promising enough.

    1. You’re probably right. I guess we will have to wait and see.

I’m curious what kind of original plot they’ll cook up seeing as this show is originally based off figurines.

  3. Gotta agree with the above comment – this seems to be garnering a lot of interest.

To be honest, I want to – and plan to – watch this. Queen’s Blade too. Don’t judge me, okay?

    1. It is, yeah.

Well, I don’t intend on judging you or anyone who watches this show or Queen’s Blade. I’m more disappointed with myself, really, for lacking the confidence to cover this on a weekly basis. I just couldn’t see myself having meaningful to say. “Ohh, the framing on that panty shot was exquisite. Lucifer’s style in terms of undergarments really accentuates her maturity as a woman as seen by the intricate lacy design. Her thighs are well toned – I imagine her lower body received plenty of exercise as she engages the Seven Mortal Sins in rigorous combat.” Like…is that it?

      1. Considering how I just doubled over, I’d say that such observations would make a delightful crackpost.

But yep, I see your point. Blogging thi ss would be as pointless as me blogging Diabolik Shitstorm.

My interest is geared towards the soft porn with plot aspect. Like reading a novel with explicit sex scenes rather than an erotica. The latter is like hentai – good for getting off and little else. Trying to take the dialogue or plot seriously will just result in frothing fits of either rage or laughter. This way, it’s kind of the best of two worlds? There’s plot but also some spice.

…I have no idea if that analogy makes any sense but yeah.

I-it's not like I want you to leave a comment or anything. B-baka.
