Minami Kamakura Koukou Joshi Jitensha-bu Episode 11 Review – “Bicycles Are Strange”

The Cycling Club’s first daytrip concludes!

(Spoilers in this review

And about time, too.

Sandy (who drags along Hiromi) gets fired up when a few bikers pass her by. It turns out that they’re a business team and they’re actually pretty nice since they gave Hiromi and Sandy some pointers. One of them was the MC for the night festival race, too.

“You bike like a scrub.”

Because of Sandy’s hotheadedness, however, the club gets split up. Tomoe comes up with an idea that allows them to meet up with Sandy and Hiromi, though: just board a ferry! I wonder how much did it cost for them to jump onto a boat.

“We made a mistake!”

Hiromi is overjoyed that they’re reunited, but she abruptly starts feeling light-headed. It turns out that she only had yogurt for breakfast (my bad for not mentioning in last week’s post) and that her blood sugar levels are now too low. I swear, every main character in every biking anime will inevitably skip out on breakfast and crash. Is it not common sense to eat before exercise?

After helping Hiromi regain some energy, the three onee-sans part ways with our hapless Cycling Club members.

“I demand sustance.”

Fake food got her hyped up again!

“Heh, bikers. They’re suckers for my overpriced food.”

The girls come across a farm and they decide they want to see a windmill up close. I personally think making silly detours like that is ill-advised, but I’m not a highschool girl in a bicycling club, am I?

While the girls are closing in on Misaki, their destination point, Hiromi has an internal monologue where she mentions that bicycles are strange yet motivating and fun and rewarding, etc.

Weakness revealed! Tomoe can’t read maps!

Fuyune suffers a flat tire. The girls have to experience every kind of mishap at least once, it seems. Thankfully, Nagisa had a spare tube.

More farm and fields!

They finally saw a windmill up close! It’s a big deal, I guess!

Shiki-sensei must’ve been waiting for them for hours.

Readers already know I ship this.

I think Sandy should be sleeping by Hiromi’s left side, but I digress.

“I sure avoided doing any paperwork today.”

The live-action segment that plays after the ED has the two girls visit the famous spot where you can take a picture of the Enoshima Train with the Shonan Beach in the background. It shows up in numerous anime and manga, too!

I love it when anime reference real life places.

The two idols ended up going to place where they can eat this famous rice bowl.

Sandy never looks like a high schooler in the end cards.

One more week, folks!

  1. Reading this has made me hungry.

I know, I know, you find me commenting while hungry a lot. What can I do…

They seemed to have a fun day trip. I don’t get the deal about windmills but heh.

    1. I feel you. I’m hungry as I type out this comment.

It really did seem like they had fun. I don’t really get their fascination with wind energy, either, yay.
The advent of these girls’ biking shows makes me think they’re pushing for some public health agenda, but that’s my paranoia talking.

        1. I’m with you there. They can’t stop us!

I’ll be watching the first two episodes of KnS after this episode of Kuzu no Honkai. From one heavy show to…another? I guess I’ll have to see.

I-it's not like I want you to leave a comment or anything. B-baka.
