Top Five Yuri Moments from Spring 2018

2018 is almost over so I need to rush these out, aaaaaah.

The year was full of gay anime girls and here’s my list of my favourite yuri moments from the spring 2018 anime season. Please don’t hurt me if your personal favourites are not mentioned here. I’m just a little sick blogger who is trying to wrap things up before the year ends ;___;

Alright, here goes!

Comic Girls as a whole

The series proper pushes for Ruki x Kaos and Koyume x Tsubasa as the “main ships,” but Koyume x Tsubasa is personally a bit dull for me. Maybe it’s because Tsubasa is rather aloof (or at least acts like it – we can’t be forgetting about how she begged the others to not show Koyume pictures of how Tsubasa dresses at home!) So by default I’m more entertained by the other pairing.

Be that as it may, there are tons of ship tease moments within the series in general. I personally am really really more into unconventional ships like Mayu (Kaoruko’s editor) x Miharu (the strict homeroom teacher) since a more mature romance involving older characters instead of high school kids is more interesting to me. The fact that the two hang out with each other during off-days / weekends is also quite juicy…

Onee-sama – Amanchu! Advance episode 11

Despite the utter collapse of previously developed ships in this second season, the inclusion of a younger girl who fancies an older sister figure is quite welcome~

Unrequited feelings – Darling in the FranXX episode 18

So many people were focused on Zero-Two (and her interactions with both Hiro and Ichigo), but the true angsty gay girl was Ikuno. Her feelings for Ichigo were genuine and hinted at from the very start of the series, but her emotional and desperate confession during episode 18 really drew viewers in.

A confession at a railroad crossing – Fumikiri Jikan episode 1

Speaking of confessions… it all went downhill from here.

A naked first impression – Tachibanakan To Lie Angle episode 1

It was clear this series was only going to appeal to specific yuri fans right from the start, but I did find the way Hanabi came across Iori to be striking…if I ignored the fact that they’re kids in high school, that is.

Honorable Mentions

Uma Musume – Pretty Derby
Mahou Shoujo Site
Lostorage Conflated WIXOSS

  1. I’m seeing so much yuri fanart and yuri talk about Gridman I’m starting to wonder if I’m making a mistake by not watching it… is it worth watching specifically for the yuri moments, in anyone’s opinion?

Also, sorry if I’ve asked this before, but are you watching/covering Bloom Into You? It’s a really impressive adaptation, not even just as a yuri show, just generally speaking.

      1. Oh no I thought I got to this one. Sorry tsubasa! And it’s…got some juicy moments but it’s definitely counterbalanced by lots of het drama. There’s is a girl who is legitimately gay and she suffers a lot for it, but there are some less serious ships with ship tease, too.

I don’t think the juice was worth the squeeze in the end but maybe you may feel differently.

Oh, yes, Bloom Into You is great. I don’t know if I’ll go on to review it but it’s wonderful. I don’t think you’ve asked!

Hmmm can’t say I know much about Gridman…

    1. Oh, yeah, there were a lot of solid yuri moments in Mahou Shoujo Site!

Hmm I was already under the impression that you were aware of how nice yuri can be given your fondness for Kuzu no Honkai, Citrus, Netsuzou TRap, and so on!
