I actually really like bowls.
No, I don’t mean those containers which hold stuff, but those are still somewhat related to what I’m trying to talk about.
I’m thinking acai bowls. Poke bowls. Donkatsu bowls. Stuff like that.
It’s sort of nice when you look at a menu and you’re able to see all the ingredients listed right there. I don’t know about you, but I always start wondering how everything is going to mix and match and turn out.
Really, it’s like a preview that tells you everything while telling you nothing at the same time.
And so this post is going to be the same way except it’ll be all about (some of) the Spring 2018 anime series I recently finished or am about to finish (thanks, Megalo Box). I tried to cover the shows that I won’t be reviewing this week (aka non-yuri shows or shows that could even be considered yuri).
Alright, here goes!
“Golden Kamuy” Bowl
Poop jokes, bloody violence, body mutilation, PlayStation-era CGI bears, Anju culture, steaming food
“Steins;Gate 0” Bowl
Mozart, Salieri, PTSD, lack of communication, drama, painful likeness, inevitable comparisons, unwanted creepy jokes, mysterious motorcycle helmet babe
“Megalo Box” Bowl
Sweaty men, tag-along kid, dirty deeds, implied cannibalism, bloody spectacle sport, underdog story, sacrifice
“Hinamatsuri” Bowl
Espers, explosive mental retorts, overblown misunderstandings, misery and suffering for younger girls, the loss of innocence, realizing the woman you’re romantically interested in is kind of a bad person
It’s 5:30 am PST and I have work in half an hour. That’s all for now even though I wanted to write about five shows…

This is actually a pretty great format, haha. I avoid spoilers like the plague, but indeed, those were previews that tell you nothing and everything at the same time.

Mmmm… Tasty, and very revealing. I think Mal should have descriptions like this on their pages. It would certainly help me figure out what I’m in the mood to watch.

No, I don’t think so. Is vague enough that your not going to understand how anything fits together, but it’s nice for people who are triggered by certain things. Also, it could make people curious too. I’m still in the early episodes of hinamatsuri and I’m definitely more intrigued, but still in the dark.
